India's first private metro by Jan 2013

India's first privately funded, promoted and soon-to-be operational Rapid MetroRail Gurgaon Limited (RMGL) would be a pleasing sight, along with being a state-of-the-art mode of transportation.

Slated to begin in January 2013, the service meanders through DLF City and touches corners at DLF Cybercity, that has a horde of multinational companies. Promoters say they have designed it with world-class aesthetics.

Starting from Sikanderpur Metro station, the RMG would meander through the posh DLF City (II) and touch Belvedere Park and Towers, DLF Cybercity, National Media Centre, Ambience Lagoon apartments before turning towards DLF SEZ in DLF City III.

Other locations include Hotel Leela Kempinski, Ambience Mall, Hotel Trident Hilton and border Toll Plaza on Gurgaon Expressway. Besides features such as the Automatic Train Operation (ATO) system, that does not necessarily require human drivers, the aesthetics of the entire 6.1 km long metro service would be on the lines of the Dubai Metro, officials of the special purpose vehicle (SPV) company Rapid MetroRail Gurgaon Limited (RMGL) claimed.

The aesthetic designs of 47 stations (nine underground) on the 75-km long Dubai Metro network is said to be the latest and most attractive in the world.

Sania slams film on her pre-wedding hullabaloo

Tennis Star Sania Mirza isn't happy about Hyderabadi Damaad, an upcoming low- budget Bollywood film. It is reportedly based on the controversy surrounding her marriage to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik.

Slamming the film's producer for drawing inspiration from her life for the script, Sania has stated that she is intrigued that the filmmaker didn't bother to inform her.

The film's heroine, starlet Debina Bonnerjee, who plays a character inspired by Sania, has assured that the tennis star need not be worried. "The film is not a biographical piece of work on Sania. Hyderabadi Damaad will be adequately fictionalised," Debina said. "Whether it is Jawaharlal Nehru or Indira Gandhi, inspiration can come from anyone. Since Sania is a star tennis player, she will inspire people. We are not going to depict Sania's life exactly as it is on the screen."

ATM inventor dead

John Shepherd-Barron, who invented the world's first automatic cash dispensing machine, better known as ATM, is dead. He had come up with the idea after wondering why banks couldn't operate a system like a chocolate-vending machine.

John had also thought of the four-digit Pin number.

He died in a hospital in Inverness Saturday after a short illness, Daily Express reported Thursday. He was 84.

John had reached his bank a little late and then thought as why there could not be a system to get cash on the lines of the chocolate-vending machines.

The first product was installed at Barclays Enfield branch in London June 27, 1967.

He then realised that he could still remember his six-figure Army number, and decided to test his wife Caroline's memory. But, she could only recall four digits, so that became the world standard for Pin number.

Pune Girl To Hollywood Hottie!

She's a perky Pune girl who's going places! In Hollywood, that is. At 26, Noureen DeWulf, an Indian Muslim actress has managed what no B Town actress has managed so far.

In a span of three years, Noureen has broken into the Hollywood casting arena landing roles in flicks of A listers such as Jennifer Lopez ('The Back Up Plan'), Mathew McConaughey ('Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past') and Ving Rhames ('Mission Impossible' series), besides a clutch of other notable films.

Furthermore, when she made her H'wood debut in 2007, Noureen was chosen by an American magazine as "one of the most desirable women on the planet."

Noureen's success seems to have surprised herself too, among many others. The Urdu Gujarati English speaking Muslim girl has certainly come a long way.

Noureen's delighted to be essaying a Muslim character in her forthcoming biggie flick: 'The Taqwacores' based on the best selling book by Michael Muhammad Knight.

Says Noureen in a tabloid chat, "I may look very American, but am very Indian at heart. The competition is unimaginable. I really don't know I've gotten so far and it's a mystery to me. I'm planning to come down to India and if there's a good Bollywood film going for me, I'd like to do it. It'll be like going back to my roots."

Filmmakers, take your clue…
